The First feature that will catch your attention is undoubtedly the ergonomic angled control panel made from anodized aluminum. The blue hue of the DRO along with the beautiful knurled control knob fitted with a rubber grip signals this is no ordinary lathe. The bed is made from steel which allows the cast iron headstock to travel incredibly smoothly. Steel is the preferred material due to its well known longevity & strength.Electronic variable speed is obtained via a VFD that converts 1 phase input to 3 phase output, so even at low settings you will get an incredible amount of torque. The DRO gives you an accurate RPM readout at all times any fine adjustments are made electronically. Changing from high to low settings is made easy by using the quick release handle. The headstock & tailstock lock handles are situated on the back to eliminate any interruptions to your work flow. Ergonomically designed handles use a cam lock resulting in a firm feel with no deflection.

Customer Reviews

This is a review of set up not of the lathe operation Review by Karl
The paper instructions for assembly are a little confusing. Especially those on the wheel system. Not to worry! Go to the web and google Laguna tools REVO 18/36. I have the 24/36 but the assembly appears to be identical.

I recommend doing this before opening the boxes. There are 15 parts to the video which cover basic assembly and all of the optional equipment. The latter is also quite valuable should your work be improved by adding these items.

The video is well narrated and edited. All episodes move right along and get at the essentials. The narrator is to be complimented as he carried that heavy equipment that he could move safely and had help on the other items. Amazingly he never broke a sweat.

So awesome start with the equipment. I'll continue the review after some time on the machine. Enjoy turning. (Posted on 3/17/2018)
